Armed police on Stoke-on-Trent street

Armed police descended on a Stoke-on-Trent street. Three arrests have been made after a fight broke out on Bucknall New Road, in Hanley.

The trouble flared at 10.45am on Tuesday 7 July.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Three men have been arrested over violence offences following reports of a fight in Stoke-on-Trent. We were called to Bucknall New Road after receiving reports of a fight involving weapons. Firearms officers attended the scene.

“A 22-year-old man, of Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. A 46-year-old man, of Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, as was a 31-year-old man, of no fixed address. The 46-year-old was further arrested on suspicion of attempt to possess a class B drug. They remain in police custody while our inquiries continue.”

Police are appealing for witnesses. They should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 275 of 7 July, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
