Properties evacuated after Leicester building collapse

One person has been injured and a number of buildings evacuated after part of a building collapsed and scattered debris in Leicester city centre.Police were called to Wharf Street South on Monday evening to reports of the collapse and several roads in the area were closed.A person who was in the street sustained minor injuries and was discharged by East Midlands Ambulance Service at the scene, officers said.Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service is dealing with the incident and is carrying out an assessment of the damage.Leicestershire Police also confirmed the damage was not caused by an explosion.Dryden Street, Old Milton Street, Lee Circle, Fleet Street, Gladstone Street, Wharf Street South, Clyde Street, Gladstone Street, Wharf Street and St Matthews Way were all closed.
