AHMEDABAD: What began as a cloudy morning quickly turned into a rainy afternoon to the surprise of Amdavadis on Saturday. The city recorded 10mm of rain between 2 pm and 4 pm. The sudden thunderstorm left its mark as citizens struggled to get through waterlogged streets, traffic gridlocks and road closures, before the skies finally cleared by evening.According to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the heaviest rain was recorded in Paldi with 36.5mm, followed by Usmanpura at 35.5mm and Science City at 28mm.Ten other areas recorded over 10mm of rainfall within just two hours. The Mithakhali underpass was closed for three hours from 3.30pm due to flooding. Around 50 complaints of waterlogging were lodged with the AMC’s control room, but officials noted that water receded from most areas by 7pm.Traffic across the city was severely affected as waterlogging and reduced visibility forced vehicles to slow down.
