Liverpool have had a couple of notable departures this summer in the form of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate.
Add those to Andoni Iraola replacing Arne Slot at the helm and it officially confirms the dawn of a new era at Anfield.
The likes of Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker are also in the final years of their respective contracts and could well move on next summer.
Amidst all this, Alexis Mac Allister’s Liverpool future has come under doubt this summer amid interest from Real Madrid.
And now, Ben Jacobs claims the Argentine midfielder has emerged as a shock target for Manchester City.
Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister wanted by Manchester City
We relayed claims from the Spanish media on Read Liverpool that the Reds value Mac Allister at around €70m.
At this point of the summer, we can’t see him leaving, but Jacobs confirms that Manchester City have ‘internally’ discussed his signature.
He said on talkSPORT: “Alexis Mac Allister has been mentioned internally at Manchester City, but there’s been no contact yet or developments with Liverpool.”
We can never be sure, but this is just paper talk. Behind the scenes, a lot of players get discussed in terms of transfers, but not all of those rumours come to fruition.
Mac Allister isn’t leaving this summer and even in the off chance he does, it certainly won’t be to Manchester City. We can confidently file this in the ‘not happening’ category.
