NEW DELHI: A unique wedding ceremony took place online between the son of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and a woman from Pakistan. The groom, Mohammad Abbas Haider, and the bride, Andleep Zahra from Lahore, were unable to meet in person due to visa issues stemming from political tensions between India and Pakistan.Tahseen Shahid, a BJP corporator and father of the groom, organized the online “nikah” after several challenges arose, including the bride’s mother falling ill and being admitted to the ICU in Pakistan.
