It was not a huge surprise that Deadpool and Wolverine was the most popular rental on Amazon Prime Video’s Top 10 list for a good long time after it hit home release. The film has gone on to make $1.3 billion worldwide, one of the highest-grossing superhero movies ever, and the highest-grossing R-rated movie, and there was no doubt many people were going to want to watch it, or rewatch it, when it arrived on streaming.
But now it has fallen to the #2 spot, unseated by another popular recent film, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice starring Jenna Ortega, Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder. The film, a sequel to the 1988 original, went on to gross $408 million worldwide, a big success given its budget. Again, it’s no surprise that it’s doing well now that it’s available for rental and it’s a (relatively) family-friendly flick that has some nostalgia hooks in older audiences, and younger audiences love Jenna Ortega.
