Derrick Rose ‘sticking around Memphis,’ says Grizzlies’ Desmond Bane

Derrick Rose announced his retirement from the NBA last week, but it sounds like Memphis hasn’t seen the last of the one-time Tiger who finished his career with the Memphis Grizzlies.“We’re gonna miss him,” Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane said during the franchise’s annual media day Monday at FedExForum. “(But) he’ll be around. He’s sticking around Memphis, so I’m happy for him. Super proud of him. But, yeah, I’m excited to see him and still be able to pick his ear here and there.”The 35-year-old former MVP’s decision to retire seemingly came out of nowhere, according to Grizzlies general manager Zach Kleiman. Which, he said, is more or less on-brand for Rose.“First, congrats to Derrick Rose on his retirement. Really glad that Derrick was with us for a season,” said Kleiman. “We got a call – it was classic Derrick fashion. Completely respect Derrick, the person he is and the decision he decided to make.
