JAY, Maine — Police in Jay are investigating after human remains were found in the woods near Elm Street, raising hopes that the discovery may shed new light on the decades-long search for Kimberly Moreau, who went missing 38 years ago.

The remains were found after a tip was given to Richard Moreau, Kimberly’s father. He believes they could be connected to his daughter’s disappearance. Kimberly Moreau was last seen in Jay just before midnight on May 9, 1986, according to the Maine State Police. She was reportedly with someone she had met earlier that day and has not been seen since.
