Humphries aiming to complete “incredible 12 months” in “dream final”

Luke Humphries believes that retaining the BoyleSports World Grand Prix title on Sunday would cap off “the most incredible 12 months”.

Humphries picked up his first televised ranking title a the 2023 World Grand Prix, defeating Gerwyn Price in Leicester to pick up the prestigious trophy.

That success was followed by wins in the Grand Slam of Darts and Players Championship Finals before he propelled himself to world number one status by winning the World Championship.

Humphries has since won the World Cup and World Matchplay and reached the finals of the UK Open and Premier League.

He faces Mike De Decker in Sunday’s World Grand Prix final, and admits that victory over the emerging Belgian would complete a remarkable year.

“I’ve achieved so much in the last 12 months and I’d love to go and cap it off with one more,” he said. “If I can win, it really would mean a lot and it would be the most incredible 12 months.
