In for a battering: Wild weather to hit areas across WA

West Australians in the Goldfields-Midlands and Great Southern areas are advised to act now as severe weather is set to roll in over the coming hours.The Bureau of Meteorology issued the warning about 2:54pm for Kalgoorlie, Norseman, Kambala and Salmon Gums.“A surface trough ahead of a cold front produces fast-moving storms this afternoon,” the BoM stated.“Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours.”Emergency WA is urging people to follow the directions below.Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, trampolines and other loose items around your home that could be picked up and thrown by strong winds.Prepare an emergency kit with a radio that runs off batteries, a torch, spare batteries and a first aid kit.
