Jayawardene named MI head coach, Mhambrey to return as bowling coach

Cricbuzz can confirm that Jayawardene, the 47-year-old former Sri Lankan captain, will take over from Mark Boucher, who has served as MI’s coach for the past two years. Boucher had replaced Jayawardene for the 2022 season after leaving the South African national team. But as MI finished at the bottom of the table, Boucher is being replaced by the Sri Lankan for the season. Boucher will be relocated to another team in IL T20, SA20 or MI NY. In 2022, Jayawardene became the global head of cricket, overseeing the expansion of the expansion of MI’s global teams across different leagues, working with the coaching staff and delivering a trophy each — with MI (WPL), MI New York (MLC) and MI Emirates…
