Transfer News: Republic of Ireland international striker Aaron Connolly set to sign for Sunderland

Date:

Sunderland are set to complete the free transfer signing of Aaron Connolly.
The 24-year-old striker, who has nine caps for the Republic of Ireland, arrived on Wearside on Sunday and has been at the club’s Academy of Light training ground this morning.
Connolly left Hull City in the summer having scored eight goals in twenty-eight appearances for the Tigers in the Championship last season, and will join Sunderland to bolster a forward line that thus far this campaign has fared fairly well under the stewardship of Régis Le Bris.
His former clubs include Brighton, where he spent five seasons having come through their academy, and loan spells with Luton, Middlesbrough, Venezia and Hull.
