U.S. Marshals seeking public assistance in locating wanted sex offender

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The U.S. Marshals are asking for the public’s help in locating a wanted sex offender. A release from the U.S. Marshals Office says Gabriel Hargus, 47, of Mineral Wells, is wanted on federal and state warrants for failure to register as a sex offender and a parole violation.Hargus was convicted on child pornography possession and sexual abuse charges in 2011 in Kanawha County.Hargus has also been previously convicted for failure to register as a sex offender.The release says, “Hargus was last seen in El Paso, Texas, operating a 2016 Silver Ford Focus, bearing West Virginia Registration, N3R908. Hargus is aware he is wanted and is currently evading apprehension from law enforcement.”The U.S. Marshals Office is offering a $2,500 dollar reward for information leading to the arrest of Hargus.
