Published 13th Aug 2026, 06:00 BSTThree men conspired to shoot up a Walsall family’s home over a “perceived wrong”, a judge has been told.Haider Ali Shabir, aged 23, and Mohammed Ishaan Khan, aged 20, of no fixed abode; and Junaid Shabir, aged 21, all from Walsall, were due to stand trial in relation to shots being fired at a property in Talke Road, Delves, on March 13, 2024.The court had previously heard that threats had been made to a woman at the address before a gun was fired, putting the safety of two of the occupants at risk. Prosecuting barrister Jonathan Barker said: “In relation to Haider Shabir he was sentenced in June 2023 for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and was jailed for 14 years.Wolverhampton Crown Court“That case has similarities with the latest matter. There was an incident linked to some perceived wrong to his sister and this was a reaction to whatever had happened.”In relation to the indictment I propose to add count three which alleges conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. I understand that if that is put to all of the defendants, all of them will plead guilty to that count.”Mr Barker said Mohammed Ishaan Khan also had previous convictions while Junaid Shabir had none.The defendants were due to be tried for conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life between March 4 and March 14 in 2024, a charge which they all denied. Junaid Shabir, a student, of Lane Avenue, Reedswood, had also denied possessing a shotgun with intent to endanger life on March 13, 2024. However, ahead of the start on the trial on Wednesday morning (August 12) at Wolverhampton Crown Court, all pleaded guilty to the alternative charge of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence between March 4 and March 13, 2024.All three entered guilty pleas resulting in the earlier charges being dropped after the Crown Prosecution Service and the defence barristers agreed terms. Judge Jonathan Gosling said: “In relation to Haider Shabir and Mohammed Ishaan Khan, the issue of dangerousness needs to be addressed ahead of sentencing.“I cannot sentence you today. You must all remain in custody until December 11. You know you are facing a significant prison sentence. You must co-operate with probation in the meantime.”He adjourned the matter until then.At the time of the Delves shooting West Midlands Police launched a public appeal for information to find those responsible. Haider Shabir, of Lane Avenue, was previously jailed for 14 years and nine months for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life after a shop in Bertram Road, Smethwick, was smashed up and shots fired in January 2023 relating to a family dispute.
