Leeds United are in the market for a goalkeeper this summer amid the uncertainty around Karl Darlow’s future at Elland Road.

Darlow is no longer a Leeds player after his contract expired at the end of June. However, he has yet to sign a new contract with the Whites amid interest from Everton and Manchester United.

Leeds have been working on signing a goalkeeper while waiting for the Welshman to make up his mind. However, they have suffered a blow in their pursuit of a new shot-stopper after Zion Suzuki turned down a move to Elland Road.

But the Whites are now being backed to sign another World Cup goalkeeper, Norway’s Orjan Nyland, whose heroics helped his team reach the quarter-finals.

Leeds tipped to sign Orjan Nyland

Erling Haaland scored two goals to help Norway beat Brazil in the last 16 clash on Sunday evening. However, Norway had to thank Orjan Nyland for keeping them in the game.

He saved Bruno Guimaraes’ penalty in the first half, and pulled off a couple of sensational saves in the second half to keep his team in the game.

Former Premier League scout Mick Brown has insisted that since Leeds need a new goalkeeper, they could do a lot worse than sign Nyland in the ongoing window.

With the Norway star available on a free transfer, he feels this is definitely a gamble worth taking for Leeds.

“Signing a new goalkeeper has been a big part of Leeds’ plans this summer”, Brown told Football Insider.
