The Cambridge Police Department and Middlesex District Attorney’s Office are investigating a body found in the water at Fresh Pond Tuesday morning.CPD first responded to reports of a body in the water around 11:30 a.m. on the northeastern edge of the pond, according to recordings of a dispatch call that were made public on an online police scanner.A preliminary investigation indicated that the body appeared to have been in the water for “an extended period of time,” according to a Tuesday afternoon press release from CPD and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.As of around 1 p.m., Massachusetts State Police and CPD officers remained on the scene.A CPD spokesperson declined to provide further detail on the ongoing investigation.
