Son Heung-min (Los Angeles FC), the captain of the national soccer team, flew, and strikers Cho Kyu-sung (Mit Willan) and Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton) also helped. The South Korean national soccer team, ahead of the 2026 FIFA North-China World Cup finals, won a great victory by setting off a goal firecracker in an exhibition match against Trinidad and Tobago.
South Korea, led by head coach Hong Myung-bo, beat Trinidad and Tobago 5-0 in the warm-up match at Brigham Young University Southfield in Provo, Utah on the 31st (Korea time). South Korea, which lost in both A matches held in March, was in the mood by winning the warm-up match ahead of the first group match of the North Korea-China World Cup finals on the 12th.
South Korea is holding a pre-training camp in Salt Lake City, the U.S., which is 1,460 meters above sea level, located on the highlands of Guadalajara, Mexico, where the first and second group games of the World Cup finals will be held. Against Trinidad and Tobago, Hong brought up a three-back defense and a 3-4-2-1 tactic to put Son Heung-min as one-top. On the day, Son Heung-min played 13 times instead of his usual number 7. In order to confuse the analysis of the power of the rival countries in Group A of the North-China U.S. World Cup, which includes South Korea, the national team gave a different number instead of the existing number.
South Korea, which showed a frustrating attack flow until the middle of the first half, changed its mood with the first goal from Son Heung-min’s toe in the 40th minute of the first half. Son Heung-min, who was rushing to the gate with a low pass from the right side of Kim Moon-hwan (Daejeon), opened the goal by scoring a right-footed shot.
Son Heung-min, who scored in the A-match for the first time in six months since November last year, scored a penalty three minutes later to complete the multi-goal (2 goals per game). Son Heung-min, who added two goals on the day, scored a total of 56 goals in the A match, which is close to the record of the most goals scored (58 goals) by South Korean players held by former coach Cha Bum-keun.
In the second half, the strikers, who were replaced, cheered up. Cho Kyu-sung received Lee Dong-kyung’s cross with his head in the 20th minute of the second half, and Hwang Hee-chan sealed the match with a penalty goal in the 30th minute of the second half. Cho Kyu-sung received Seol Young-woo’s pass in the 32nd minute of the second half and scored his second personal goal with a right-footed shot.
The national team showed off its firepower at a stadium located on the highlands on the day, raising expectations for the finals. In particular, the “water replenishment rest” situation, which was first introduced at this competition, was also well utilized. Water replenishment breaks provide players with water intake and physical recovery time after stopping the game for three minutes each after 22 minutes in the first and second half, excluding halftime. Coach Hong actively communicated with the players during the break during the first half and delivered the game strategy, and the national team, which raised the offensive tempo, finished the first half with two goals.
Coach Hong said after the game, “The operation went well in the form of the tactics we prepared. Son Heung-min and Cho Kyu-sung’s goals are very welcome to the national team,” he said. Son Heung-min, who recently washed away his goal drought, said, “This victory will help the players find confidence,” but emphasized his composure, saying, “I will prepare for the tournament without getting excited when I win and sinking when I lose.”
Although South Korea won a great victory in the game, midfielder Bae Joon-ho and defender Cho Yoo-min were replaced by injuries during the second half of the day, and the injury warning was issued ahead of the World Cup finals. South Korea will play its last warm-up match before the World Cup finals against El Salvador on the 4th.

West Ham fans react as Taty Castellanos drops hint on his future after exit reports
Add as preferred source on Google West Ham United fans have spoken of their desire to keep striker Valentin Castellanos in the Championship. While Castellanos sometimes frustrates for his lack of cutting edge, it’s hard to imagine a scenario in which West Ham United would have taken their bid for Premier League survival down to the last day without the Argentine. Nuno stays! Tell us how YOU are feeling about the big news! Vote below 👇 Taty scored seven goals in 22 games after joining from Lazio for around £26million and impressed supporters with his work rate. After a reasonably positive impact, Castellanos has been linked with a move away from West Ham following their relegation. However, supporters here in east London and beyond are hoping to keep him. West Ham fans want Castellanos to stay after he liked Instagram post confirming Nuno won’t leaveTaty liked an Instagram post where West Ham confirmed that Nuno Espirito Santo will stay on as manager, potentially raising hope that the forward could also be convinced to stay. Readers and subscribers to Hammers News across its Facebook and TalkingPoints platforms spoke of how much they wanted to keep the Argentina international. That is sadly the grim reality of the situation, although West Ham remain ambitious to return to the Premier League as quickly as possible. While at least some big names will almost certainly leave, keeping players like Castellanos would be a fine way to ensure their stay in the second tier is only a fleeting one. It looks like being a summer of chaos at West Ham but holding onto players of his stature would certainly be a statement of intent from the club. West Ham Keep Faith With Nuno After Relegation, Target Immediate Premier League Return
West Ham United have confirmed that manager Nuno Espirito Santo will remain in charge despite the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
The Portuguese coach met with West Ham’s senior management on Monday following the club’s drop to the Championship, with both parties deciding against ending their agreement despite having clauses allowing a separation without compensation.
In an open letter to supporters, the club said: “We are pleased to confirm he has expressed his continued commitment to the club – as we have to him.”
“Nuno made it very clear that he is highly motivated for the challenge of guiding West Ham United back to the top flight at the first time of asking. That must be the unquestionable goal for next season.”
West Ham pointed to Nuno’s previous success in the Championship, where he guided Wolverhampton Wanderers to the title in 2018 with 99 points.
“Nuno has spent one previous year in the Championship and it was an outstanding success as he secured 99 points to win the title with Wolverhampton Wanderers,” the statement added.
The Hammers were relegated from the Premier League for the first time since 2012 after a difficult campaign the club admitted “has not been good enough.”
Club sources estimate the relegation will cost West Ham around £200m in lost revenue. The financial impact comes after losses exceeding £100m in the club’s latest accounts, with further losses expected this season.
The situation is expected to force player sales, with key figures including captain Jarrod Bowen and Portugal midfielder Mateus Fernandes attracting interest.
Nuno replaced Graham Potter in September and endured a difficult start before improving results in the closing months of the campaign.
“While the ultimate outcome on Sunday was a painful one, the board of directors believe that there have been broader signs of improvement and progress in recent months, and we want Nuno to continue developing that progress,” the club said.
“A total of 25 points taken from our final 17 Premier League matches equated to 1.47 points per game – a ratio that would have resulted in a 7th place finish across the total season.”
“Furthermore, we feel the clear improvement in squad mentality and togetherness since January, leading to that upturn in performances and results, makes him the right man to lead us forward.”

Burnley 1-1 Wolves: Zian Flemming rescues point for Clarets to ensure Rob Edwards’ side finish bottom of Premier League
Relegated pair Burnley and Wolves played out a 1-1 draw in their final Premier League game before they return to the Sky Bet Championship next season.Adam Armstrong’s fifth-minute penalty put Rob Edwards’ men in front, but Zian Flemming struck inside the first two minutes of the second half to earn the Clarets one final point.
As a result, Wolves finish bottom of the table, without an away win all season. Burnley finish 19th, two points ahead.A rarity at Turf Moor
This was just the fifth instance of two already relegated teams meeting in the Premier League, after Leicester vs Ipswich in 1994/95, Coventry vs Bradford in 2000/01, Leicester vs Southampton in 2024/25 and Leicester vs Ipswich in 2024/25.
How Burnley and Wolves bowed out with a drawWolves flew out of the traps and, inside five minutes, were awarded a penalty. Ladislav Krejci’s header was handled by Florentino and, after a swift glance at the VAR monitor, referee Andrew Kitchen pointed to the spot.Armstrong has been less than prolific since his February move from Southampton, but he stepped up confidently and beat Max Weiss emphatically to take his return to two in 14 Premier League games.

Burnley then started to dominate the ball, but could have been 2-0 down after 15 minutes. Only the slightest of fingertips from Weiss took Mateus Mane’s shot from the edge of the box – after a magical run down the right – onto the post.
They did have the chance to level proceedings deep into first-half stoppage time, but a full-stretch save from Jose Sa kept out Florentino’s thunderous strike from 25 yards.
It was 1-1, though, after 47 minutes. Flemming took charge after a tidy exchange of passes with Loum Tchaouna and fired a controlled strike into the bottom-left corner.Image:
Zian Flemming celebrates his equaliser with team-mate Axel TuanzebeThere was never much danger of either side hitting a winner thereafter, and that was the way it ended. Two notable milestones were hit, however. Ashley Barnes came on for his 320th – and thought to be final – appearance for Burnley, shortly after 16-year-old Jerome Abbey was sent on to become the second-youngest player in Wolves’ history.Jackson: We must learn from latest relegationBurnley interim head coach Mike Jackson speaking to Sky Sports:”In terms of the game, we didn’t start well at all. It was a really poor start from our point of view.”We’ve not been used to having lots and lots of the ball, so when you actually do get that, sometimes your habits within that can be a little bit sloppy and we gave the ball away too easily.”We had a few words at half-time, fixed a couple of things and, in the second half, I thought we were a lot better, created a lot of chances and solved a lot of problems we caused ourselves in the first half.”You want to keep all of your best players if you can, but with the reality of what’s happened this season sometimes it can be difficult.”I’m sure the club will do their best, but it’s a balancing act going down.”Since Scott [Parker] left, it’s been quiet on that front [Burnley’s next head coach]. The club have to do their due diligence in the way they want to go.”We’ve been in this situation before and it’s not good to be in it again, but we have to learn from this and know what’s required from the Championship next season.”Everything should be geared towards that. I don’t think setbacks should define you and it’s about what we do next now. That’s the most important thing.”Edwards: Either team could have won thatWolves head coach Rob Edwards speaking to Sky Sports:”I thought we started the game brilliantly. We had a number of set-pieces, got the goal, went 1-0 up and I thought we could’ve got two or three in that first. The ‘keeper has made a couple of amazing saves. And I didn’t like the start of the second half.”Then the game became a bit basketball-like and quite open; maybe a bit end-of-season and the heat played a part. But after the second drinks break, we were able to get things together again.”Either team could have won it. It was probably quite exciting for the neutral to watch, but we wanted to win the game and we weren’t able to do that.”On debutant Abbey: “We’ll see how he progresses. He’s a young player we really like. He’s trained with us a number of times and we’ve always really liked him.”He’s got a great future and an exciting future ahead, but let’s not put too much pressure on too soon. That’s a nice one for him and I thought he did really well when he came on.”Story of the match in stats

Liverpool vs Brentford: Premier League preview, team news, stats & head-to-head
Liverpool lost 3-2 in the reverse fixture against Brentford, but have never lost consecutive league games against the Bees before.Between 1936 and 1937, Brentford were unbeaten in their first three away league games against Liverpool (W1 D2). Since then, they’ve lost each of their last six trips to Anfield without scoring a single goal.Liverpool haven’t lost their final league game in any of the last 10 seasons (W7 D3) since going down 6-1 at Stoke in 2014-15. When finishing a league campaign at home, they’re unbeaten in 18 (W15 D3) since a 2-0 loss to Arsenal in 1988-89.Brentford have won their final game in just one of their four previous Premier League campaigns (D1 L2), beating Manchester City 1-0 in 2022-23.Liverpool have lost 19 games in all competitions this season; in the club’s entire history, only in 1936-37 (20), 1952-53 (21), 1953-54 (24), and 1992-93 (20) have they ever lost 20+ matches in a single campaign.Liverpool have gone on to lose eight different Premier League games in which they’ve equalised this season, the most of any side. Indeed, only two teams have lost more such games in a single campaign – Wolves in 2024-25 (10) and Blackpool in 2010-11 (9).Brentford have won just one of their last nine Premier League games (D6 L2), beating West Ham 3-0 earlier this month.Mohamed Salah has played 441 games for Liverpool in all competitions, scoring 257 goals and providing 119 assists, with this potentially his final game for the Reds. He has seven Premier League goals this season, and could be just the second golden boot winner to score 20+ fewer goals than the previous campaign (29 last season), along with Alan Shearer (25 in 1996-97, 2 in 1997-98).Virgil van Dijk has completed 90 minutes in 74 of Liverpool’s 75 Premier League matches under Arne Slot – including all 37 games this season. If he plays 90 minutes here, aged 34 years and 320 days, he would be the oldest outfield player ever to complete 100% of possible minutes in a Premier League campaign, beating John Terry’s record in 2014-15 (34y 168d).Igor Thiago has scored 41% of Brentford’s Premier League goals this season (22/54), currently the highest share by a player in a single campaign since Harry Kane in 2022-23 (43% for Spurs – 30/70).

Louanne received the trophy following Wolves Women’s final home game of the season and prior to securing promotion to WSL 2, and Joao his award, along with the club’s Community Player of the Year award, at the Compton training ground this week.
A huge congratulations and thank you to Joao and Louanne for their support, and to Lisa Hollis, Louis Borrill and Wolves’ Player Care team for all their help.
