Kingsthorpe Golf Club in Kingsley Road is currently well alight with all emergency services at the scene. The roof has been totally destroyed by the huge blaze as fire crews from across three counties battle to get it under control. At 3.20pm a spokesperson for Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue (NFRS) said: “We are currently in attendance at Kingsthorpe Golf Club, Northampton, where fire crews are attempting to extinguish a fire at the clubhouse.“Three appliances from Northamptonshire are tackling the blaze.”Please avoid the area if you are nearby.”NFRS issued a further update just before 4.30pm which said that the blaze has spread to the first floor and the roof. A spokesperson for NFRS said: We continue to remain at the scene of a fire at Kingsthorpe Golf Club.“Fire crews are still battling to extinguish a fire affecting the first floor and roof of the clubhouse.“Three appliances from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service are on scene, and we are also receiving assistance from crews in Leicestershire and Buckinghamshire.“There are no reported casualties.“Nearby residents and businesses are urged to close their windows and doors due to the smoke plume. Road closures are in place near the scene while we deal with the incident, so please avoid the area if commuting.“We anticipate we will remain on scene into the evening.”Northamptonshire Police are also on scene with surrounding roads shut. A force spokesperson told the Chron: “Fairway and Kingsley Road roundabout is closed in both directions.“Also, Kingsthorpe Avenue is closed at the junction with Trinity Avenue, which means there is no access to Kingsley Road from this direction.”Members of the public have reported hearing loud bangs across the town following the fire.At 6pm a further statement was released by NFRS which read: “This afternoon’s fire at Kingsthorpe Golf Club is now largely out and under control.
